In mid-2014 Apple and IBM formed the MobileFirst partnership aimed leveraging their respective core competencies in the enterprise (IBM) and consumer (Apple) arenas. The pact calls for IBM to exclusively deliver Internet of Things (IoT) based business and mobility applications on the Apple iOS-based iPhone and iPad devices to IBM enterprise customers. These MobileFirst applications will incorporate IBM’s advanced Big Data & Analytics advanced capabilities. This will enable enterprise customers to derive greater immediate, targeted knowledge from their specific vertical applications. Additionally The IBM MobileFirst for iOS applications utilizes IBM’s rock solid security. These applications have embedded analytics that are all linked to core enterprise processes to deliver high performance and security natively. The applications can be customized. They are deployed, managed and upgraded via IBM’s cloud services, specifically for iOS devices. The security follows the application across the data, the application and the iOS smart phone or tablet device. The embedded Big Data & Analytics and security functionality serve to enhance the inherent features and mobility value of Apple’s iPhones and iPad platforms.
