While augmented reality hardware as a whole remains in early development phases, with a primarily enterprise first focus from companies like Vuzix, Microsoft, and Epson, one startup – Magic Leap – has garnered major attention from both the technology press as well as investors, raising over 1.4 billion US dollars from 2014 to 2017 to develop a consumer mixed reality product.
