Tablets and Casual Gaming Apple Android and Angry Birds
The tablet’s larger display size, advanced specification and multiple use cases have contributed to its common use as a casual gaming device, increasingly taking share from dedicated portable gaming systems. Apple is largely responsible for the success in this industry with the development of the iPad, but, perhaps more importantly, the iOS ecosystem as the mobile gaming industry received a tremendous benefit from the ease with which consumers could purchase content from iTunes. Android has been catching up and has recently benefited from Amazon’s Kindle Fire. Windows, RIM, and others are also working on building app ecosystems and gain developer attention but have yet to gain significant momentum.
