In the first quarter of 2023, total shipments of tablets and notebook PCs declined a combined -25%. The tablet market declined -18%, while the notebook PC experienced a more challenging compare versus the same quarter a year ago, falling -30%. Tough macroeconomic conditions and a lull in demand led to a precipitous drop in shipments, bringing the market down to pre-pandemic levels. Despite incentives to purchase products, inventory levels remained higher-than-usual, impeding new shipments into the tablet and notebook PC market.
