Tablet Shipments and Installed Base by Connectivity Type Forecast 2010 - 2020: Q4 16 Update

Download Report

Report Summary:

Cellular-connected Tablet shipments will hit a speed bump in 2016 before returning to growth in 2017, falling 4% year-on-year, as the overall Tablet market goes through a period of contraction and carriers adjust strategies. Historically, Wi-Fi Only Tablets have dominated the market, but that situation is slowly changing as prices for Tablets with 3G and 4G/LTE—and cellular data plans from carriers—become more reasonable for consumers and enterprise users looking for always-on connectivity. Having access to high speed networks regardless of location opens up new experiences for the consumer and makes the device more functional, especially as the next billion internet users seek convenient, mobile devices to access the internet. New Wi-Fi standards such as 802.11ac are taking hold and allow Wi-Fi performance to increase too.

This report forecasts global Tablet shipments and installed base by connectivity (Wi-Fi, 3G, and LTE) in the 6 major regions of North America, Western Europe, Asia Pacific, Central & Latin America, Central & Eastern Europe, and Africa & Middle East. This report is published during Q4 2016, following actual Q3 2016 results. This report updates and supersedes the Tablet Shipments and Installed Base by Connectivity Type Forecast 2010-2020: Q3 16 Update report published in August 2016.
