One expert peer-review of this study began with the statement: 'Lenovo will never be disruptive.' But, Lenovo has already been very disruptive, taking global #1 market share rank in PCs in 2013 after buying IBM's PC business 8 years earlier. Now Lenovo has bought Motorola's smartphone business, and is applying its PC skills (high volume, low margin branded device manufacturing and distribution) onto Motorola's assets (mobile brand, IPR, technology, channels, products) with remarkably little conflict from duplication and remarkably large synergy between the two. This study analyses what the outcome might be.
