DoCoMo is at a very interesting stage in its history. The impact of 'no Apple products' is being felt hard, so that in calendar 2Q13 DoCoMo gained just 5% of all net subscriber additions in Japan: no basis for sustaining its 45% share there. With Apple likely to become a DoCoMo partner soon, the trade-off between a return to subscriber growth thanks to iPhones and the conflict between Apple's ecosystem and DoCoMo's ecosystem will be fascinating to observe.
