Smartphones Now Outnumber Non-smartphones in Q3 2011 Global Shelf Share Analysis
Smartphones are winning the battle for ubiquity. Analysis of global shelf share in Q3 2011 showed that smartphones accounted for 49% of operator shelf share, with non-smartphones accounting for 46% of shelf share – an almost total reversal of the picture in Q2 2011. Nokia and Samsung dominated the Q3 2011 smartphone shelf space, but are, in many markets, being pushed hard by HTC, Motorola, LG, Sony Ericsson and others.
