Report Summary:

Global smartphone shipments grew 41% annually and reached 145 million units in the first quarter of 2012. Samsung reclaimed top spot as the world’s largest smartphone vendor thanks to continued strength across a broad portfolio of Galaxy models, and in spite of another strong quarter from Apple. In fact, the two leading vendors were so dominant this quarter that they accounted for 55% of the total global smartphone market. Nokia, RIM and HTC were hit hard by Samsung and Apple’s rampage and lost share as a result.
