North America Smartphone Vendor & OS Market Share by Country Q2 2012
Smartphone shipments in North America fell 4% year-on-year during the second quarter of 2012. We believe this was the first time ever the North American smartphone market has contracted on an annual basis. Economic challenges and tighter operator upgrade policies were the main causes of the slowdown. Android lost four points of share and it is approaching a peak in the US market. Apple gained ten points of marketshare and led in volume growth. Meanwhile, Blackberry continued to struggle and Microsoft was flat.
