Report Summary:

Smartphone shipments in North America fell 4% year-on-year during the second quarter of 2012. We believe this was the first time ever the North American smartphone market has contracted on an annual basis. Economic challenges and tighter operator upgrade policies were the main causes of the slowdown. Android lost four points of share and it is approaching a peak in the US market. Apple gained ten points of marketshare and led in volume growth. Meanwhile, Blackberry continued to struggle and Microsoft was flat. This report contains quarterly smartphone vendor and OS shipments and marketshare for the top 7 vendors and top 5 platforms in the USA and Canada for Q2 2012. The report also contains historic data for North America from 2007 to Q2 2012, as well as a pivot table for data control.
