Nokia Sees the Light with New Lumia Windows Smartphones
Nokia today finally launched the first two products in its Windows Phone generation of smartphones. They are launched under the Lumia sub-brand, which means Latin for “light”. The Lumia 710 and Lumia 800 are mid-to-high tier touchscreen models for postpaid and prepaid users. The two phones are a sign from Nokia that it is inching back into the smartphone game, and an affordable reward for Nokia loyalists. But this was very much a first effort from Nokia; the phones won’t initially be available in the valuable US market and they are not yet an iPhone killer. Companies that will compete with the new Lumia range include HTC, LG, Samsung and RIM.
