Global smartphone shipments dipped -6% and -5% annually in Q4 2018 and 2018 respectively. Samsung remained the world's largest vendor in global smartphone market this quarter and in 2018 full year, and topped in Europe, Central Latin America and Middle East Africa. Apple retook the second largest smartphone vendor in Q4 2018 and 2018 full year. However, Apple lost market share in all regional except North America, where it managed to retake the first spot this quarter. Huawei ranked the third place but maintained the first place in Asia Pacific and gained market share annually in all regions this quarter. OPPO and vivo surpassed Xiaomi and ranked the fourth and fifth spot in Q4 2018 respectively. Android solidified the leading position and gained market share in all regions except North America during the last quarter of 2018.
