Global Smartphone OS Market Share Q3 2011
In Q3 2011 Android accounted for the majority of all smartphones shipped globally for the first time. Such was Android's dominance of the quarter that shipments of the other major mobile platforms all declined, with the Samsung Galaxy S2 doing especially well. This process may well be reversed in Q4, however, with Apple's iPhone 4S on sale, RIM's BlackBerry 7 handsets ramping, and Nokia launching its first Windows Phone smartphones. This report tracks quarterly global smartphone shipments and market shares of the 7 major operating systems from 2007 through Q3 2011.
