Strategy Analytics tracked global smartphone shipments (sell in) declined -6% MoM and -5% YoY in May 2018 mainly due to overstocked inventory in channel over previous months, as well as the weak performance in key markets, such as China etc. Moreover, sales (sell through) to end users posted a -3% annual decline too. Inventory slightly decreased from last month because of price cut of legacy models by major OEMs. Samsung top both shipment and sales chart, followed by Huawei, Apple, OPPO, Xiaomi and vivo. This report tracks global smartphone monthly shipments (sell in), sales (sell through) and inventory volumes / ratio by 28 of the world's largest vendors from January 2016 to May 2018.
