Growth in the North American smartphone market slowed in Q1 2022. Shipment volumes were up by just 1% annually. Component shortages impacted availability of key smartphone models, while growing inflation hit consumer spending. Despite this, seven of the Top-10 brands recorded positive annual shipment growth, reflecting a continuing improvement in the North American smartphone market compared to the previous year’s first quarter. Apple was the Number 1 smartphone vendor in the quarter by units shipped and Samsung led in Android.
