Strategy Analytics has lowered handset and smartphone forecast numbers in 2022 and 2023, amid the ongoing Ukraine-Russia war and Covid disruption in China, as well as the cloudy economy outlook. We expect global smartphone shipments will fall -8% YoY in 2022, followed by a +3% rebound in 2023. Global handset shipments will fall -13% YoY in 2022 and remain flat next year. Central Eastern Europe will see a big fall in 2022 / 2023. Other regions will get impacted as well. Samsung and Apple will continue leading the market with improved market shares, while many Chinese brands are facing strong headwinds.
