Strategy Analytics tracked global smartphone shipments (sell in) improved +2% MoM but declined -6% YoY in August 2018 mainly due to saturated smartphone and extended replacement cycle, as well as weaker performance in key markets such as China and US. Moreover, sales (sell through) to end users posted a -12% annual decline too. Inventory slightly increased from last month because of newly launched models by major OEMs before holiday season. Samsung top both shipment and sales char this month, followed by Huawei, Xiaomi, OPPO, vivo and Apple.
