There are limited opportunities for revenue growth in the saturated wireless operator market.  Churn is the main driver of revenue growth with operator gains coming from hard-fought victories over competitors. 

Compelling B2C use cases and value propositions are still a challenge for 5G, with a 5G device push compensating for this weaker consumer pull. 5G momentum will build from 2021 and help to stabilize value in the market – Over 50% of the regions wireless subscriptions will be on 5G by the end of 2025.

On the smartphone device side, W. Europe is already one of the most competitive markets and will become even more so in second half of 2020 and in to 2021 as more Chinese vendors ramp up coverage and legacy brands from 3G/4G like Motorola and LG attempt to gain relevancy.  Top-3 vendors dominate volume share in Q1 2020. Huawei is quickly sliding down following the US ban, leaving room for newcomers like Xiaomi, Oppo and OnePlus, TCL to climb up the ranking. Challenges appear for HMD (Nokia) while this may be the last chance for Sony, Sharp and other brands to stake a claim for continued participation.
