Report Summary:

The major countries of Europe, Middle East and Africa experienced steady year-on-year handset growth in the first quarter of 2012, with only the Spanish market shrinking year-on-year. In smartphone-centric Europe Samsung and Apple continued to grow their market shares, mainly at the expense of Nokia, which has seen its Windows Phone-based Lumia range get off to a slow start. However, Nokia is doing a better job of holding-off Samsung and Apple in more price-sensitive countries such as Russia and South Africa. This report tracks quarterly handset shipments and marketshare for 8 major vendors in 7 major countries from 2009 to Q1 2012. The countries covered are France, Germany, Italy, Russia, South Africa, Spain and UK.
