Report Summary:

The German handset market grew by 3% year-on-year in Q3 2015, mainly based on the steady sales of Samsung handsets and the robust sales of Apple iPhones. Samsung continued to retain its number one spot in Germany, and widened the gap against 2nd-ranking Apple, mostly based on the streamlined products from premium-tier to lower-tier devices such as A series. Apple lost some share, but maintained 2nd position with its larger-sized iPhone 6 and 6S series for 12 quarters in a row in Germany. Meanwhile Huawei remained no. 3 position, surpassing Sony and Nokia (Microsoft), based on the enhanced brand awareness and strong marketing. This report tracks quarterly handset vendor market share at the three major German operators -- T-Mobile, Vodafone, O2 (E-Plus) -- from Q1 2009 to Q3 2015. The report is an important tool for measuring the health of individual handset brands at the operator level.
