The German handset market decreased by -13% year-on-year in Q2 2016, posting the annual negative handset shipment growth for two quarters in a row. Samsung became the biggest handset provider in Germany in three quarters, based on robust sales of Galaxy S7 devices, surpassing Apple, which is struggling with weaker sales of iPhone 6S line-ups than expected. Meanwhile Huawei solidified no. 3 position for five quarters in a row, surpassing Microsoft, Sony and LG, based on the enhanced brand awareness, diversified products, balanced channel strategy and strong marketing. This report tracks quarterly handset vendor market share at the three major German operators -- T-Mobile, Vodafone, O2 (E-Plus) -- from Q1 2009 to Q2 2016.
