China smartphone shipments increased 61% YoY in Q3 2012, surging way ahead of the United States and confirming its position as the world's largest country by volume. Samsung has maintained China's largest smartphone vendor for three quarters in a row, due to a growing retail presence and a balanced product-mix covering multiple segments. Lenovo maintained its momentum, remaining the second largest smartphone vendor in China for two quarters in a row. Huawei and ZTE remained within the top 5 list but lost ground to Lenovo and Coolpad, with the latter pushing into the top 5 for the first time. Apple slipped out of top 5 and Nokia has been pushed out of top 10. This report contains quarterly handset and smartphone vendor, and OS market share for mainland China from Q1 2009 to Q3 2012.
