VENDOR SHARE North America Handset Shipments Decline 9 in Q1 2012
Mobile handset shipments declined -9% year-on-year in North America during the first quarter of 2012. Economic volatility and sluggish iDEN, GSM and CDMA volumes drove the slowdown. Apple led the market in shipment growth, Samsung maintained top spot, while HTC, Sony, Nokia and RIM were among the vendors experiencing the sharpest annual declines in volume. This report contains quarterly handset shipments and marketshare by 2G / 3G / 4G technologies for the top 17 vendors in the USA and Canada from 2004 to Q1 2012.
