Huawei’s performance in Q3 2016 was mixed. Its global handset shipment grew 26% YoY. It outperformed the market and its 3rd position in the global handset market was solidified. But in Asia Pacific - its biggest regional market - Huawei was surpassed by OPPO and slipped to 3rd place with 7% market share. Growing pressure from other rising Chinese vendors, lack of breakthrough in major markets, increased inventory risks, and insufficient supports on innovation from display suppliers are casting shadows for the rising Chinese giant.
