India Leads Emerging Markets in Driving Dual-SIM Handset Sales
Dual-SIM handset sales in emerging markets took off in 2010, fuelled by competitive offerings from local microvendors and global players, like Nokia and Samsung. By 2016, we forecast dual-SIM handset penetration to reach 20% worldwide. Emerging markets, where operators typically have limited influence over handset distribution, will continue to play a dominant role in the global dual-SIM handset market, with India as the single largest market worldwide. The upcoming influx of dual-SIM smartphones will further escalate competition in the space.
