Report Summary:

Nokia shipped 83 million handsets worldwide in Q1 2012, recording its lowest marketshare since 1997. As Nokia continues its painful Symbian-Microsoft transition, the shipment performance weakened. Nokia’s handset volumes in the huge China market more than halved, due to fierce competition in 3G and 2G phones from Apple, Samsung, ZTE and others. However, there are tentative signs that the new Lumia portfolio is making minor progress in the United States and this gives Nokia and Microsoft a glimmer of hope.
