CES 2019 took place in Las Vegas between the 8th and 11th of January 2019. Once again, AI was a major theme in the form of digital assistant technologies from Amazon and Google and their influence could be felt in all corners of the show. Smart speaker device announcements were much thinner on the ground this year with much focus on the integration of voice assistants into a wider range of technology products. However, smart speakers are still seen as the primary vessel for voice assistants in the home given their low cost and small form factor. 2019 is set to be another stellar year for the smart speaker market as technology innovations such as on device AI processing and new and better experiences drive even greater interest in the sector.  This report analyzes the key announcements and developments from CES 2019 relating to the smart speaker market.
