Smart Light Bulbs: The Competitive Landscape

Download Report

Report Summary:

Smart light bulbs are beginning to flood into the market as consumers migrate from incandescent bulbs past CFLs to LEDs. The attractiveness of smart bulbs is growing as their prices decline – the pricey Philips Hue, an early entrant, is now being joined by $15 GE bulbs and multifunction bulbs from companies such as Sengled sporting Wi-Fi repeaters, speakers and cameras. The most dramatic impact on the Smart Home market will result from widespread use of Bluetooth Mesh in bulbs, which will not only provide a means of controlling the bulbs, but also a control communication infrastructure enabling many different devices to be controlled with smartphones.
