Smart Home: A Dominant Theme of the 2015 CES

Report Summary:

Smart Home vendors had their own pavilion in the Tech West section of the show at the Sands Expo sponsored by Bosch. But there were plenty of exhibits elsewhere at CES including the Central Hall where EchoStar displayed its Sage platform scheduled to hit the market this summer and Samsung exhibited its SmartThings unit. Apple was not visibly present, but numerous vendors touted their HomeKit certified products including Smartlabs’ INSTEON, Schlage’s Sense door lock and Elgato’s sensors. Nest took a similar approach keeping a low profile and letting vendors brag about their membership in the “Works with Nest” club. All in all there was a lot to cover and a clear sign that 2015 may not be the year of the Smart Home, but it’s coming.
