Global smart speaker shipments reached 147 million units in 2019 and are forecast to grow a further 17% in 2020 to more than 170 million. The COVID-19 pandemic has inevitably had an impact on the market both from the supply side as a result of factory closures in China during Q1 and on the consumer demand front due to the ongoing economic fallout following the widespread lockdown measures. As a result, global smart speaker shipment levels in 2020 are expected to be 5% lower than our pre COVID-19 forecast. However, the market has been better insulated against the crisis than many other major CE device categories due to the high proportion of sales that go through online channels but also as a result of cosnumers actively seeking out smart speaker and smart display products in order to facilitate communication with family and friends during the period of lockdown.

This report forecasts global smart speaker shipments, installed base, households and household penetration by 6 major regions from 2014 to 2025. The report is published in June 2020 following actual Q1 2020 results.
