3DTV has set out on the long road towards mass market adoption, and more than 40% of European homes will own a 3D-ready TV by 2014. But television producers and the content industry in general have a lot of work to do to feed the hundreds of millions of 3D-capable devices which will be installed in homes over the next few years. Blu-ray now has the opportunity to become one of the key 3D content platforms. This presentation, given at the Blu-ray Academy/Mediatech event in Hamburg, Germany in May 2011, presents Strategy Analytics' perspectives on the status of the European 3D market across cinema, television, games and video segments, the opportunities and challenges involved, and presents key findings from our survey of 2800 European consumers.
