Strong holiday demand for next-generation PlayStation and Xbox consoles will help to drive a 17% increase in annual worldwide console revenues in 2020. Microsoft appears to be much better positioned than last time out to challenge Sony for next-generation console leadership thanks to the appealing price point for its entry level Series S model. Furthermore, Sony has few competitive answers to Microsoft's successful Xbox Game Pass and Xbox All Access services. However, Sony's PlayStation brand enjoys considerable appeal internationally and the company will be hoping that its focus on exclusive first party titles will help it to build on the success of the PS4.
