Embedded voice assistants (VA) have become a ubiquitous feature across Consumer Electronics device categories.
More than 2.2 billion consumer electronics devices with embedded VAs were shipped in 2022, a figure that we forecast to reach 3.3 billion by 2027. Almost half of all CE devices now have built-in VAs, compared to just over one-third of devices in 2018. The Smartphone category is driving this growth as virtually all smartphones have embedded support for VA functionality. Mobile Computing devices were the second major product category until recently, but have now been overtaken by Wearables. Although the bulk of wearable devices with embedded VA is accounted for by Bluetooth headsets, about 90 million Smartwatches with built-in VAs were shipped last year. Over the next 5 years, the market is expected to see a healthy CAGR of 9% attributed to technological advancement and improvement in AI, natural language processing and machine learning.
