Global Consumer Electronics market trade revenue reached a record US$825 billion in 2021, an increase of 15% YoY. With many consumers around the world continuing to work and learn from home during the year, demand for home electronics such as Smart TVs, game consoles and computing devices soared to record levels. The Smartphone market also recovered following a weak 2020 although the Smartphone share of global revenues dropped to its lowest level since 2014. After a record breaking year for consumer spending on technology, the market now faces multiple challenges even as the world adjusts to living with Covid-19. The ongoing war between Russia and Ukraine, China’s regular lockdowns and pursuit of a zero-covid strategy, rising inflation and interest rates and the squeeze of the cost of living are all having a significant impact on consumer sentiment and spending priorities. Retailers are reporting high inventory levels and manufacturers are reducing orders as they revise full year targets downwards in light of softening consumer demand.
This report forecasts major Consumer Electronics device shipments, installed base, revenues and ASPs globally and across six major regions from 2012 to 2027 as a total of all devices and those that are IP-enabled. Detailed forecasts are provided for a basket of 19 product categories spanning TV and Video, Computing, Gaming Hardware, Home Audio, Digital Cameras and Smartphones.
