Global trade revenues for Consumer Electronics devices reached $638 billion in 2016, representing an annual drop of 5% from $671 billion in 2015. 2.7 billion devices were shipped during the year of which 88% were IP-enabled while over 6.6 billion IP-enabled devices were in use around the world by the end of 2016. Smartphones continue to contribute the bulk of industry revenues despite the market contracting for the first time in its history last year while wireless speakers, sound bars and digital media streamers were the standout performers.
