Report Summary:

Total production of cellular terminals grew 12.7 percent to more than 1.67 billion units in '10, driving radio component sales up 11 percent in dollar terms. Cellular handset sell-through (sales) grew a robust 13.8 percent in '10. In addition, non-handset cellular terminals grew approximately 50 percent to more than 150 million units, while the "grey" market (illegal or shanzhai handsets) remained significant at more than 100 million units. The continued growth of cellular device production will lead to an estimated 4 percent average annual growth rate for cellular radio components in dollar terms over the next five years. Basebands and power amplifiers will experience the strongest growth driven by 3G and LTE, which will require more processing power and new bands.
