Despite the COVID-19 pandemic, shipments of global smartphone apps processors (AP) with on-device artificial intelligence (AI) grew 23 percent year-over-year in Q2 2020.  Apple, HiSilicon, MediaTek, Qualcomm, Samsung System LSI and Unisoc accounted for almost all of the applications processors with on-device AI.  Strategy Analytics estimates that on-device AI AP shipments accounted for 70 percent of all smartphone APs shipped in Q2 2020. This report tracks quarterly shipments of key smartphone AI AP chips for major vendors, and includes provisional estimates up to Q4 2020.
