In unit terms, Texas Instruments (TI) is the number one player in the smartphone applications processor market, through longstanding relationships with Nokia, Motorola and other major handset OEMs. In 2009, the company announced its plans to exit from the cellular baseband market which could have a significant negative impact on the success of its OMAP business in future.
