Cellular baseband unit shipments grew 23 percent in the first half of 2010 compared to the first half of 2009. In revenue terms, the cellular baseband market reached $5.96 billion in the first half of 2010, up 15.5 percent compared to the first half of 2009. Thanks to significant design wins at Nokia and Samsung, Broadcom achieved baseband revenue growth of 245 percent in 1H 2010 compared to the same period the year before. The non-handset market, which includes PC data cards, PNDs, netbooks, tablets wireless USB dongles and M2M, is emerging as an exciting opportunity, accounting for 12 percent of total baseband shipments in 1H 2010.
