Global cellular baseband processor revenue grew a healthy 18 percent year-over-year to reach $17.8 billion in 2012, while unit shipments grew at a modest 3 percent. LTE baseband shipments registered more than seven fold growth in 2012 and significantly contributed to overall revenue growth due to higher average selling prices. Qualcomm led the market with 52 percent revenue share in 2012, followed by MediaTek and Intel. This report tracks the cellular baseband unit shipments, ASPs and revenues of 13 baseband chip vendors across six air interface technologies on a quarterly basis and includes provisional data up to Q1 2013.
