Total RF GaAs device revenue (including foundry) declined in 2019, dropping to a level of nearly $8.55 billion. This decline, arguably the first since 2004, was primarily driven by a decline in smartphone shipments. Wireless applications continue to drive the market with Skyworks and Qorvo remaining the two largest RF GaAs device manufacturers. Pure-play GaAs foundry WIN Semiconductors increased their market share, becoming even more dominant in this segment of the market. We expect slight growth to return to the GaAs market in 2020, with 5G becoming the market growth engine.
