China's Dual Credit Policy - Winners and Losers in 2020

Report Summary:

China reported a CAFC deficit in 2020 of 7.45 million credits. Fortunately, it still generated a surplus of 3.27 million NEV credits. There was a lot of variation across the 2020 credit results for individual OEMs with only 44 OEMs reaching both credit targets. The winners in 2020 were those OEMs focusing on NEVs, such as BYD and Tesla while the big traditional Chinese and international OEMs such as VW, GM, Honda, and Toyota struggled to achieve dual credit compliance.
