Despite Flooding Thailand Will Remain the South East Asian Production Leader
Several months after massive flooding in Thailand crippled major auto companies and rendered some of their manufacturing plants inaccessible, the country's automobile industry is slowly rebounding and showing signs of recovery. While some manufacturing has moved abroad, the lion share of production will remain in Thailand and is returning to normal. Total vehicle production in Thailand for 2011 was 1,457,795 units - passenger vehicles 537,987 units, commercial vehicles 919,808 units – representing an output decrease of 11% year over the 2010 figure of 1,645,304 units.
