Report Summary:

Strategy Analytics conducted an expert evaluation of the Car2Go car-sharing service, which uses a fleet of Smart Fortwo coupes. Car2Go vehicles are easy to locate, reserve, and access. However, the on-board infotainment system (featuring an FM radio, navigation system, and eco-centric driving app) requires a great deal of improvement. The poorly responsive touchscreen and unintuitive destination entry render the navigation system unusable, ensuring that the user will rely on their smartphone in the car. Eight FM radio pre-sets are provided, and while tuning is allowed, the pre-sets may not be customized. No AM band is provided for the radio, and brought-in devices may not be connected. Suggested in-car additions include traffic information (via Waze or a pre-set radio station), personalized account information, localized parking information, and the ability to send a destination to the vehicle’s navigation system from a Car2Go app.
