User Experience Evaluation: 2018 Mercedes-Benz Semi-Autonomous Driving Assistants

Download Report

Report Summary:

Strategy Analytics conducted a user experience evaluation of Mercedes-Benz’s newest suite of semi-autonomous driving assistants in a 2018 S-Class sedan.  This iteration on older HMI designs for advanced ACC, steering assist, and lane-keeping shows improvements in control location, but repeats issues with small visual icons and a lack of audible or tactile feedback, leading to moderate IVX scores for usability.  System-initiated emergency stops during escalated takeover warnings also have troubling safety implications.
