Report Summary:

Strategy Analytics conducted a user experience benchmark of Android Auto in a Pioneer AVIC-8100NEX aftermarket infotainment system. Android Auto does not have the same initial transfer of learning of Apple’s CarPlay, but for the most part has a simple design resulting in a very shallow learning curve. Google Voice worked exceptionally well for text message dictation and destination entry. Participants encountered issues switching between media sources, navigating media menus, and initially manually entering a destination in Google Maps.
