Usage of in-vehicle speech recognition systems remains low, but continues its small year-over-year gains, which were strongest in middle-aged groups in the US and older drivers in Western Europe. Speech recognition is used for all types of functionality in China, with navigation functions being most widely used, while phone functionality is most popular in the US and Western Europe. Overall satisfaction with in-vehicle speech recognition increased slightly in 2014. Users are least satisfied with accuracy, length of prompts, ease of use, and time to complete speech recognition tasks. Consumer satisfaction with in-vehicle touchscreens increased across the board to approximate levels last seen in 2012.
