Report Summary:

The US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) released revised driver distraction guidelines on April 23. These revised guidelines remove the more controversial and onerous guidelines and in their place adopted a more common sense approach to managing driver distraction. The guidelines and test methods remain closely aligned with the Alliance of Automobile Manufacturer’s (AAM) Statement of Principles previously adopted, and highlight the positive benefit of proactive activities by OEMs to create their own solutions.
