Strategy Analytics surveyed car owners in the US, Western Europe, and China regarding their likelihood to consider battery-powered electric vehicles (BEVs) for their next car purchase, and their concerns regarding BEV ownership.  Expanding range and aggressive marketing of BEV technology have clashed with attitudinal changes from the COVID-19 pandemic, resulting in a mixed bag of trends.  While interest has grown overall (quite dramatically in certain narrow segments), skeptics continue to cite the same perceived challenges of BEV ownership.  Product planners must consider which of the factors leading to growth in BEV interest will recede with the pandemic, and which will remain.
