Strategy Analytics conducted a heuristic evaluation of the Telmap5 mobile navigation application on a BlackBerry Bold 9700. The implementation of a carousel feature is a positive enhancement, which provides quick access to local search. The use of a one-line search bar is designed adequately and follows SA’s best practices by providing a helpful text prompt for the user. Telmap5 suffers from trying to create a consistent experience across device platforms, which results in an experience that is not always optimized for each specific device. Minor usability issues were also uncovered with the announcement of street names and in the “My Places” feature.
